Edith Catlin Phelps. Spanish Dancer. (1875-1961) New York City born artist who spent her life as a painter and etcher after her extensive studies abroad in art in Santa Barbara, California. Married to architect Stowe Phelps, Edith Phelps distinguished herself capturing the beauty of the California landscape. But it is her portrait work that beguiles, as evidenced in this piece entitled "Spanish Dancer." A remarkably powerful image of a woman conveying confidence and grace, this work is signed and dated 1938. Oil on board measuring 36 x 29" and beautifully framed to 43 x 36". The colors are rich and the details lovely. Estimated Value $2,500 - UP
