Anna and Andy Orlinski. The Battle of Trafalgar. Poland's Anna and Andy Orlinski, are known the world over for their historic marine paintings boasting astounding detail and passion. This is one of the best examples of their work we have ever seen, both artists having created an original oil on canvas: an amazing panorama at sea of The Battle of Trafalgar, which took place on October of 1805. The battle escalated into a massive naval engagement between the Royal Navy, led by Admiral Lord Nelson, and the combined navies of the French and Spanish. The large number of ships involved in this battle are only partially represented here but the ferocity and scale are beautifully captured, where 23 Franco-Spanish ships were destroyed, but not one British vessel. A stunning and quite compelling work. This oil on canvas measures 20" x 40", handsomely framed in gilt wood to 28" x 48" and in excellent condition. Be sure to note a second much smaller Orlinski, "La Prudente and La Cybelle fighting against Diomede and Centurion" in 1794. Estimated Value $5,000 - UP
