Carl Emile Baagøe: 19th Century Danish Painter of Seascapes, "Ships on a Calm Sea" Dated 1877. (1829-1902) Popular 19th Century Danish painter who specialized in capturing seascapes, ships and of particular note, the soft pastels of Winter skies. "Ship on a Calm Sea" is very representative of his work. Oil on panel 6½ x 9½ presented in a modern gilt wood frame. The pastel colors are quite lovely, his attention to the morning light and sky perfection. Signed clearly in lower left corner, Carl Baagøe and dated 1877. In excellent condition and beautifully framed in gilt wood to 13½ x 16½. Estimated Value $500 - UP
