Helen Margaret Barker; California Expressionist. Rocks and Sea. (1917-1998) Self-taught artist who settled in the Monterey Peninsula in 1954 and in 1960 married artist Cecil Lefeuvre. The couple operated an art gallery there until 1987. Mrs. Lefeuvre died in Carmel on April 5, 1998. Working in oil, acrylic and watercolor, she painted florals, seascapes and landscapes of the area and very much a regional favorite. Offered is one of her wonderful Northern California seascapes, the waves of the Pacific crashing against the rocks along the coastline. Oil on panel, 11 x 14" and recently framed in an elaborate gilt wood, 21 x 24". Artwork has Barker's name, address and title of work in her hand on verso. Know this is a beautiful example of her much beloved work. Estimated Value $300 - UP
