Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 112

Lot 5

1816 N-5 R3 AU50. Lustrous mix of light steel brown and chocolate with peeps of very faded mint color in a couple of the protected areas on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers the fields and protected areas and this cent has great eye appeal. The only mark is a small, shallow planchet flake (as struck) in the field left of star 9. Just a light touch of friction on the highest points from mint state. LDS. Both dies are worn and only about half of the dentils remain visible. The outer points of all the stars are drawn to the rim but the repunching under the left foot of the N in CENT remains visible. Faint traces of edge reeding are present outside of star 6 (similar to the preceding lot). Estimate Value $800 - UP
