Lot 387

1819 N-8 R1 AU58. A sharp, lustrous mint state cent but it has a few too many tiny contact marks for a mint state grade. None of the marks is significant or distracting and the eye appeal is quite nice. Lustrous light olive and steel with sea-green overtones (a classic "greenie" as Doug Smith used to say). The best identifying mark is a small spot of slightly darker toning on the top of the first A in AMERICA. Sharply struck EDS. Most likely from the famous Randall Hoard of mint state cents that was dispersed well over a century ago. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS62 Brown (NGC label included, #3170863-001). Estimate Value $500 - UP
