Lot 378

1817 N-13 R1 MS60+. Glossy bluish steel and olive with satiny luster covering both sides. Peeps of very faded mint color are visible on the reverse. The only mark is a tiny nick right of the upper point of star 3. Both sides display attractive cartwheel luster and the eye appeal of this piece is excellent. E-MDS. The dentils are strong and complete, and a clear die line connects the bases of the I & C in AMERICA. A clear double profile shows on the lower half of the nose, a result of die bounce or twist. Most likely from the Randall Hoard of mint state middle date cents. Comes with a nice provenance. Estimate Value $900 - UP
