Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 112

Lot 372

1817 N-7 R7+ (as a die state) AG3. Sharpness near F12 but corroded, strongest on the obverse. No verdigris or marks, but ugly nonetheless. Slightly glossy dark olive with lighter steel brown highpoints. The date is weakened by the corrosion but it remains readable and the reverse legend is mostly strong. The attribution points are clear, including the doubled dentil at N in UNITED, the missing stray hair over the ear, and the inner point of star 3 pointing to the upper lip of Ms Liberty. EDS without the normally seen "Mouse Break" on top of the head. An extremely rare die state. Estimate Value $275 - UP
