Lot 349

1799 S-189 R2 PCGS Genuine Graffiti. Sharpness G5 or slightly better but there are myriad fine scratches on the obverse, mostly in the fields on either side of the portrait. Small nicks cover both sides and there is some microscopic roughness in the protected areas on the reverse. The color is a decent and slightly glossy medium brown and chocolate blending to darker chocolate brown on the reverse. The date and LIBERTY are well struck and easily readable. The legends on the reverse are readable but some elements are weak, especially UNITED. Our grade is net AG3. The PCGS label incorrectly calls this the 1799/8 overdate. It is the Normal Date variety. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
