Lot 330

1794 S-65 R1 VG8. Glossy olive brown and chocolate with slightly lighter toning on the devices. The surfaces appear smooth but a glass reveals extremely faint roughness in the fields and protected areas. No verdigris and the only notable marks are a dull scrape at the 94 and a few tiny scratches at the B in LIBERTY. Otherwise the details suggest a slightly higher grade. E-MDS, Breen state V, with a fine die crack down the left side of the second S in STATES and swelling at ICA and inside the wreath. Struck slightly off center to K-1.5. The date is clear in spite of the minor scrape in that area. Estimate Value $600 - UP
Ex Chris McCawley 5/9/2008.
