Lot 25

1817 N-10 R1 PCGS graded MS62 Brown. Beautiful lustrous bluish steel brown and olive with very faded mint red showing in some of the protected areas on both sides. The only marks are a tiny planchet flake under the eye, a couple nick-like planchet voids in the field left of star 11 (all as struck), and a tiny rim nick at star 5. LDS with a very narrow rim cud at star 3 and the outer point of every star drawn to the rim by flowlines. A fine double profile shows on the neck, a result of die bounce, not a doubled die. Our grade is AU58 thanks to a hint of friction on the highest points, but this cent has solid mint state eye appeal. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $1,400 - UP
Ex Tom Reynolds 6/1998-March Wells, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/8/2000:1760-Jack Wadlington (The Twin Leaf Collection), Stack's Bowers 3/30/2016:10018-The Westwood Collection (includes the Wells collection envelope, the Wadlington collection notes, and both lot tickets).

Realized $990
