Lot 19

1817 N-7 R7 (as a die state) VG10. Sharpness VF35 but the surfaces are covered with fine roughness under rather glossy dark olive and lighter chocolate brown toning. Shallow verdigris covers the protected areas on both sides, especially on the reverse. The major eye-catcher is a planchet lamination that reaches across the obverse from above star 4 to star 13 (as struck). Extremely rare EDS without any trace of the usually seen "Mouse" break on top of the head. No more than 10 "Mouseless" examples are known, and the finest of that group grades VF20. Estimate Value $1,250 - UP
