Lot 1161

1855-D. PCGS graded MS-60. Well struck exhibiting olive-green surfaces with light golden-orange highlights. This is an unusual coin in that it grades MS-60, which is a fact as there is no wear on the high points. However, there are some scattered scuffs on the reverse, two on the Legend surrounding and a couple on the eagle and shield. Thankfully these old nicks don't appear in the fields, and thus they somewhat blend into the lettering and designs. This is one of the key dates to the series, and a coin that is seldom offered in any grade. Only 1,123 struck, with an estimated 50 to 60 surviving examples. Pop 2; only 1 finer in 63. (PCGS # 7776) Estimate Value $20,000 - UP

Realized $39,600
