Lot 1160

1854-D. PCGS graded AU-50. Mostly well struck, the legs of the eagle are a little soft as expected on this key issue. Some faint hairline scratches on the obverse. The coin has frosty light original mint luster throughout. This is one of the smallest mintages from any branch mint for the Liberty quarter eagle design. This is truly a rare date and mint which is seldom offered in any grade. Only 1,760 struck, with about 70 to 90 examples estimated to have survived by PCGS Pop Report. Pop 10; 20 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 7771) Estimate Value $5,000 - UP
