1825 N-7 R3 EF40. Glossy light chocolate brown and steel with lighter brown toning in protected areas on the reverse. The surfaces are smooth and show only a few trivial marks. There is a pinprick at the upper left point of star 11, a couple very faint hairlines on the cheek, and a tiny spot of dark toning under the left end of the line below CENT. LDS with significant dentil fusing on the obverse, a die crack from the curl at star 13 down to the dentils right of the date, and another crack from the forehead to star 4. A fine double profile shows on the lips, throat, and neck. Graded EF40 by Bill Noyes, EF45 by Del Bland. This is the plate coin for the die variety in the John Wright reference on the cents of 1816-1839. Estimate Value $700 - UP
