Lot 1107

1855-D. PCGS graded AU-58. Well struck with plenty of luster still presenting. A lovely golden orange example of this very rare Type II Dahlonega Mint Gold Dollar. The surfaces are free of all but a few trivial nicks from brief circulation, with the always seen bold die clashing in the fields. Sharp on the date and denomination, as well as Liberty's curls. The Type II style was short lived, and highly collectible. There are precious few of the 1855-D Gold Dollars in any grade, let alone this stunning near mint AU-58! An incredible opportunity for the date and mint specialist who demands high quality. Today it is believed that only 80 or so examples exist of this date and mint, according to the experts at CoinFacts. Only 1,811 struck. Pop 7; 6 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 7534) Estimate Value $20,000 - UP

Realized $49,200
