Mercury 8 Badge on USS Kearsarge, Unlimited Access to Donald "Deke" Slayton. The USS Kearsarge after being completely overhauled and upgraded, departed Long Beach, California on August 1, 1962 to station herself in the Western Range as a recovery ship in the Project Mercury orbital space flight of astronaut Walter Schirra. Recovery was on October 3rd with the USS Kearsarge returning him to Honolulu for the flight back to the mainland. Offered is Deke Slayton's "Unlimited" access laminated badge aboard the storied aircraft carrier, while present and assisting in the successful recovery. 4 x 2¾" Comes with LOA.
