Catalina Island Pottery: Rare 1930s Siesta Pipe & Ashtray with Catalina Island Metal Matchbook Cover. Catalina Island, an immensely popular destination for Californians and tourists alike for over a century was, for ten years, also the home of Catalina Island Pottery between 1927-1937. Known for its lovely colorful pottery and tiles, products from this pottery maker have become some of the most collected works by collectors in America. Offered is their signature piece of tobacciana, The Siesta Ashtray in its most desireable finish of off-white because the serape and sandles are colorfully hand painted whereas with most of the other darker glazes, no accent painting was done. Stamped on verso is the signature Catalina Island mark. No chips or cracks. Also includes a vintage metal matchbook cover with Avalon Bay, Catalina Island stamped on the medallion with images of the bay. Estimate Value $350 - UP
