Over forty-year-old collection of political buttons for presidential candidates from 1840 to 1976, the majority displayed in notebooks, but a couple of hundred loose in bags. From the 19th century, buttons include: W.H. Harrison, Martin Van Buren, Henry Clay, Charles Sumner, Millard Fillmore, Horace Greeley, Benjamin Harrison, William Jennings Bryan, and William McKinley. From the 20th century, buttons are found for, among others, Theodore Roosevelt, Alton B. Parker, William H. Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Charles E. Hughes, Douglas MacArthur, W.A. Harriman, Estes Kefauver, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Adlai Stevenson, John Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Shirley Chisholm, Strom Thurmond, John Tower, Nelson Rockefeller, Robert Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey, George Wallace, Gene McCarthy, Pat Brown, Jerry Brown, Jesse Jackson, Sargent Shriver, Birch Bayh, Frank Church, Dr. Spock, Dick Gregory, Eldridge Cleaver, Pat Paulsen, and more. There are numerous buttons for Eisenhower, Stevenson, Lyndon Johnson, Barry Goldwater, Humphrey/Muskie, George Wallace, Jimmy Carter/Mondale, Ford, and Reagan.
