General Hoyt S. Vandenberg as Chief of Staff US Air Force Signed Proclamation to Studio Head Darryl F. Zanuck for Twelve O'Clock High (1899-1954) Second Chief of Staff of the Air Force and the second Director of Central Intelligence. Darryl F. Zanuck was the long-time producer and studio head of Twentieth Century Fox who championed the acclaimed 1949 film TWELVE O'CLOCK HIGH, starring a superb Gregory Peck, The first and arguably the greatest film to examine the pressures of command and the psychological toll of making life and death decisions for men they come to know and care about until DAS BOOT in 1984. Offered is Darryl Zanuck's elaborately hand calligraphed proclamation by Chief of Staff Hoyt S. Vandenberg, thanking him and his studio for the excellent production. From the estate of Darryl Zanuck, this proclamation is still in its original frame, the colors of the inks as vibrant as the day lettered, Vandenberg's signature bold. 12 x 9" framed to 17 x 14" and in excellent condition, with only slight discoloration from moisture on right side edge.
