Herzl, Jacob -- Rare Letter by the Father of Theodor Herzl (1835-1902) Father of Theodor Herzl (1860-1904) who was the father of modern Zionism. Short autograph letter signed "Jac Herzl," written on half of a 9 x 5¾" page, in German, Vienna, May 12 1901. To H. York-Steiner, reporting that his son, Theodor, was traveling but was due back in two weeks. The matter, mentioned in Steiner's letter received the day before, must wait for his son's return. Small edge split at horizontal fold, below the letter and signature, which are boldly penned and signed. Letter is still in the original holder from Walter R. Benjamin Autographs, Inc.
