Collection of Judaica -- From or Related to Palestine, the Holocaust, and Israel. A notebook from a collection of Judaica acquired by the consignor over a period of 40 years. The contents of this notebook include: Gideon Hausner (Israeli jurist who headed the team of prosecutors at Adolf Eichmann's 1961 trial for war crimes in Jerusalem): 1981 TLS on his book on the Eichmann trial, Neo-Nazism, etc. and 2 signed pages from a publication showing Eichmann's trial; Nahum Goldmann (leading Zionist and founder and president of the World Jewish Congress): 2 1939 typed letters signed, 1 with holograph note, to Rev. M.L. Perlzweig in London; 1943 notepaper for Central Office for Jewish Emigration, Amsterdam, signed by SS officer "aus dem Funten," in charge of Dutch Jews to be sent to Auschwitz; a 1919 Polish passport to Palestine; Hebrew language identity document issued at a transit camp in Cyprus in 1948; 2 manuscript letters signed by Arthur Balfour (British Foreign Secretary who issued the Balfour Declaration), 1892 and 1907, plus a cut signature; long 1933 Dr. Franz Oppenheimer TLS from Tel Aviv, in German (ragged top edge not affecting text), with Zionist content; with official German 1964 FDC bearing Oppenheimer's 90 Pfenig stamp and cachet, airmailed from Bonn to Israel via special flight; a 1942 Non-Enemy Declaration Certificate for Hugo Lehman, applying for U.S. citizenship; various postcards featuring Palestine; a 1929 bulletin of the Jewish National Fund for Great Britain; 1940 TLS from former NY Governor Herbert Lehman re a dinner for Chaim Weizmann; Max Jacob (1876-1944) French poet, painter, writer, and critic who died in Drancy Deportation Camp--a one-page autograph manuscript, in French, headed "Le jugement 1er mai," 7½ x 8¼"--a meditation about Judgment Day.
