Copy of Catch-22, New York, Simon and Schuster, 1961, signed and inscribed to Arnold Kramer; with a signed and dated first edition of Heller's Something Happened, New York, Alfred A. Knopf, 1974.
Accompanied by two books signed and inscribed by Christopher Isherwood (1904-86), Anglo-American novelist and playwright best known for his novels about Berlin in the early 1930s: The Berlin Stories, New York, New Directions, 1945; and Christopher and His Kind. 1929-1939, New York, Farrar, Straus, Giroux, 1976. The Berlin Stories, which inspired the musical and the film "Cabaret" has a long inscription, dated 1979, to Arnold Kramer, in part: "The only thing I could think of to say to a student of modern German history is the most obvious, but sometimes overlooked by the self righteous -- that, under certain circumstances, absolutely any modern state could produce a Hitler."
