Asimov, Isaac, Joseph Heller, and Christoper Isherwood -- Five Signed, Inscribed Books and an Endorsed Check. Isaac Asimov (1920-92) Biochemist and writer known for his works of science fiction and popular science. Book signed and inscribed, "To Arnold Krammer / if I can do it, anyone can. Isaac Asimov 2 c1929 (Publication day)," being Asimov's autobiography, In Memory Yet Green. The Autobiography of Isaac Asimov. 1920-1954), New York, Doubleday & Company, 1979. About fine. With a $2 check made out to Asimov by Arnold Krammer and endorsed "Isaac Asimov" on verso. Very good. Joseph Heller (1923-99) American author whose best-known work is Catch-22. Copy of Catch-22, New York, Simon and Schuster, 1961, signed and inscribed to Arnold Kramer; with a signed and dated first edition of Heller's Something Happened, New York, Alfred A. Knopf, 1974.
Accompanied by two books signed and inscribed by Christopher Isherwood (1904-86), Anglo-American novelist and playwright best known for his novels about Berlin in the early 1930s: The Berlin Stories, New York, New Directions, 1945; and Christopher and His Kind. 1929-1939, New York, Farrar, Straus, Giroux, 1976. The Berlin Stories, which inspired the musical and the film "Cabaret" has a long inscription, dated 1979, to Arnold Kramer, in part: "The only thing I could think of to say to a student of modern German history is the most obvious, but sometimes overlooked by the self righteous -- that, under certain circumstances, absolutely any modern state could produce a Hitler." Part of dust jacket spine is missing and book is toned. Christopher and his Kind has a 1979 inscription. Light toning, else fine. (5 books and a check). Estimate Value $350 - UP
