1795. A over E in "STATES". Overton-113. NGC graded AU-55. A marvelous example remarkably free from marks and defects. Lightly toned in bluish-grey colors that are quite even and attractive on both sides. The surfaces are clean too with no distracting circulation marks. This variety is quite popular for the blundered spelling of STETES initially, then corrected to STATES. Such blunders are known in other denominations, but they are always popular with collectors. Here is one of the nicer examples to survive with this spelling blunder, and a perfect coin to welcome into your advanced collection.
