Lot 2307

Great Britain. Penny, 1843. S.3948; KM-739. Victoria. Obverse bust of queen left by Wyon. VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. w.w.in small raised letters on truncation, date below. Reverse Britannia seated, holding ornate trident, ornate spray of emblematic flowers below. Colon after REG: Brilliant glossy mint state with much mint bloom and some original mint red. The 1843 Penny is extremely rare in mint state, and rivals the 1860 copper Penny for desirability. In fact more top end 1843 copper pennies are seen than 1860s. This specimen has good eye appeal and is virtually irreplaceable. NGC graded MS-64 Brown. Estimate Value $4,000 - 5,000

Realized $5,520
