Caracalla. Æ (24.33 g), AD 198-217. Sinope in Paphlagonia, CY 253 (AD 208/9). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla right. Reverse: Zeus-Serapis reclining left on couch, holding eagle and scepter; at end of legend, date in Roman numerals (CC-L-I-II). Cf. RG 128 (CY 252); cf. SNG von Aulock 6874 (CY 255); J. S. Waggoner Collection (CNG E188), 207 (same dies). Extremely rare dated issue using Roman numerals. Attractive sandy-black patina. Choice Very Fine. Estimate Value $500 - 700
