Lot 943

1806/5 Draped Bust Half Dollar. PCGS graded AU-55. Perhaps one of the finest known of this variety, it is certainly at the top of the Condition Census published in the 1992 Overton/Parsley reprint on half dollars, and at least tied for the finest seen. Pearl gray throughout, with ample luster near the devices. Well struck, especially on the left side of the obverse, where the stars are strong, and weaker on the right. The overdate feature is present at the top right of the 6, where a small bit of the tip of the flag protrudes above the ball. No adjustment marks or other problems from circulation, and a coin which most collectors will long enjoy.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.

Realized $2,070
