Lot 728

1853 Liberty Seated Dime. No arrows. PCGS graded MS-64. With a mintage of 95,000 one would expect that this would be a very rare coin in high grade. However, there was a small hoard of these that were distributed by Harold P. Newlin before 1883, and most mint state survivors probably trace back to that group. This one has steel gray surfaces and is lightly toned. Boldly struck throughout, especially on the stars and Liberty's head. PCGS has graded 24 this high, with 21 in various grades higher.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,250.

Realized $1,208
