1831 Capped Bust Dime. Brilliant Proof 60 or better. This coin should be examined by prospective buyers, the surfaces and quality of the strike imply that is it a proof, but it has been harshly cleaned with myriad hairlines as a result. Steel gray and bold throughout, with a high wire rim around the obverse and reverse. Proofs are known from this pair of dies, and given the wire rims, this appears to be a proof. Rare and seldom offered.
