"1867" No Rays. Contemporary Counterfeit. VF-30. Lightly cleaned at one time, and certainly good enough to "pass". The date is repunched on the 18, the shield lines a bit wavy, and the lettering is off style, but all in all a fun coin to study. Can you imagine counterfeiting a nickel? A lot of work went into this, and they are not too common.
