Lot 2226

1920-S $10 Indian. PCGS graded MS-65 Premium Quality. This is a superb coin, one of the very finest to exist of this rare date. Throw away the mintage of 126,500 and check out the number graded. PCGS has seen just 46 coins in all grades, the lowest number besides the ultra rare 1933! In gem grades, there are 2 coins seen, this one as a magnificent MS-65, and a single coin graded higher, that an MS-67. Orange gold toning over well struck devices on the obverse, the reverse similar with frosty luster and boldly struck on the eagle's breast and wing, the only weakness is on the thigh and foot of eagle, typical of the San Francisco Mint of the period. The surfaces are outstanding, we note two tiny ticks on Liberty's forehead, and a small tick on her chin, and a small copper spot below and right of star nine. On the reverse, we see a couple of tiny ticks on the eagle's tail feathers, near the tips. If you have ever considered building a date set of these, and demand high grade coins, then this is one you will want to own.
Estimated Value $150,000 - 200,000.
