Lot 1477

Hadrian, 117-138 AD. Gold Aureus (7.3 g), Rome mint, struck 117 AD. Popular type, while not rare, still, does not come to the market too frequently. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Hadrian right. Reverse: Radiate and draped bust of Sol right. RIC 16; c. 1003. Light marks or graffiti in fields; nevertheless, the bold relief bust remains a splendid example of Hadrian's portraiture. Very Fine plus.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,750.

Realized $2,013
