Lot 1394

A selection of World War II Ration Books and stamps. The first War Ration Book Three is nearly complete (just 3 stamps missing from a single page, all other stamps present and accounted for), the next is War Ration Book Two which has a complete set of stamps included and next is War Ration Book One (1942) which has many stamps included on the original pre printed form. Last of all is a stamp display card with dozens of loose war ration stamps included for fuel and other "goods" which were subject to government rationing. During World War II, many foods and products were rationed so the majority of these scarce products could be shipped overseas to the soldiers to support the war effort. The first commodity to become rationed was car tires, in January of 1942. Victory gardens sprang up everywhere, but by the time the vegitables and fruit were ready for canning, sugar was rationed, and even canning became a problem. Luckily, these ration stamps remind us of those difficult days, when many common goods became downright uncommon, and were rationed. A most interesting group for the World War II buff or stamp collector. As to the condition, they are basically as issued with minimal wear or handling.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
