Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 109

Lot 987

1916. PCGS graded MS-65 Full Head. Lovely toning on both sides of antique gold and silver gray. The strike is sharp on Liberty's head, enough to earn the desirable Full Head designation for this key date. These 1916 Standing Liberty quarters were launched in early 1917, in fact collectors and the general public did not even know these were struck in late 1916. Furthermore they were released with all the 1917 quarters, hence not many noticed these 1916 quarters until they were well circulated. This is one of the finer examples seen today. A well struck popular key date. Only 52,000 struck. Pop 82; 38 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 5705) Estimate Value $30,000 - UP
Ex Garrett Collection.
