Lot 967

1863. NGC graded MS-66+. Boldly struck and lightly toned. The business strike quarters of 1863 saw a significant drop off in their mintage when compared with prior years. Only 191,600 pieces were struck, in part due to the coin hoarding nationally with the ongoing Civil War. Clearly, a few were saved like the present example, and carefully preserved right down to today. Here is arguably one of the finest known of this date and mint. Pop 1; tied with another 66+ at PCGS for the finest graded examples. Estimate Value $6,000 - UP

Unsold
