Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 109

Lot 901

1837. No stars, small date. PCGS graded MS-65. Well struck with light golden toning on both sides. A pleasing type coin with all the hallmarks desired by collectors; eye appeal, rarity and a proven track record. These tiny half dimes were the first appearance of the new Gobrecht design for this denomination, and they proved quite popular. Stars were added to the obverse design the follwing year, so this 1837 style became a very short-lived type coin. And a handsome example it is! Pop 29; 25 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 4312) Estimate Value $2,100 - 2,200
