Lot 83

1817 N-16 R1 15-Star Obverse PCGS graded F15. Choice glossy medium chocolate brown and steel. Smooth and very nice for the grade, nearly flawless in every respect. A tiny diagonal nick midway between star 1 and the chin is the only notable mark, and it is insignificant. EDS. This is a full obverse brockage strike with no rotation between the obverse and reverse impressions (which means the previously struck cent that was stuck in the coining chamber did not move between the two impressions). A premium example of a very dramatic mint error; worthy of the finest collection. Noyes graded VF20, his photo #39583. Our grade is F12. The attribution, 1st Strike Brockage Mint Error, and Neiswinter provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $5,000 - UP
