1817 N-12 R3 G5. Sharpness F12 but dark and covered with fine roughness. No verdigris or significant marks. Dark olive brown and steel. The date and legends are all strong. Late die state with a small cud break filling most but not all of the area between the die cracks left of star 1. The area outside the crack through stars 1-3 is starting to sink and shift slightly outward as a retained cud. A rare intermediate die state for this variety. Graded F12 sharpness net G5 by Noyes, his photo #22083. Estimate Value $250 - UP
