Lot 60

1817 N-5 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown, CAC Approved. Choice lustrous medium steel brown with mellowing mint red covering about a third of the obverse and protected areas on the reverse. Only trivial marks of no significance; a dull, very light scuff on the bust may help identify this cent, but you need a good glass to see it. Later die state with the dentils on the reverse nearly gone and the reverse rotated 25 degrees CCW relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. A beautiful cent. Graded MS63 and tied for CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 Choice and tied for CC#1 honors with one other piece, his photo #27227. Our grade is MS63 Choice as well. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution and Neiswinter provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 65RB for the variety. Estimate Value $3,750 - UP
