Lot 493

Blank Planchet for 1835-1843 Large Cent, Stage II EF40. Mostly glossy reddish chocolate brown and olive. There are traces of microscopic roughness on both sides but no marks or other defects. The rims are upset (Breen's state II) so the planchet is ready for striking. The upset rims are narrow which suggests this planchet was made for the cents of 1835-1842 or the Petite Heads of 1843. Weight 170.2 grains (versus the 168.0-grain standard) and 28.0mm diameter. Estimate Value $100 - UP
Ex Providence Collection, NASCA 7/16/1981:491-R. Tettenhorst Collection 2018-Tettenhorst Estate (NASCA lot envelope included).

Realized $216
