Lot 481

1848 N-32 R5 VF35. Frosty medium brown and steel blending to light chocolate on the highpoints. The surfaces are smooth and this cent has excellent eye appeal. The only marks are a few microscopic ticks on the obverse and a bit of fine crud around the berry over the left side of the N in ONE. EDS. The fine diagonal die lines from the dentils at stars 11-13 are sharp. The hair at the top of the ear is a bit softly struck, as always on this variety, but the rest of the coin looks like a solid Extremely Fine. Removed from an NGC slab graded AU58 (NGC label #1941088-010 included, and it shows the attribution and Reiver provenance). CC#3 for this very scarce die variety in the Grellman census (the top 3 are 50-45-35). Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
Ex Jim Corrado 9/27/1986-Jules Reiver, Heritage 1/24/2006:20355-Tom Reynolds 5/2015-Mike Iatesta (includes the Corrado and Reiver collection envelopes).

Realized $990
