Lot 474

1846 N-14 R3 Tall Date NGC graded AU55. Frosty medium chocolate brown and steel. The only mark is a dull, barely visible nick on the upper half of the upright of the T in CENT. There are traces of soft dirt tucked into protected areas around the devices and I suspect a proper bath would uncover lots of natural flowline frost. Nicely struck M-LDS, die state b, with a boldly defined rim cud break under the 18. Our grade is EF45+. Not in the overall condition census for the variety but CC#4 among those known with the single rim cud break. An important cent for the collector of significant die states. Estimate Value $450 - UP
Ex NumisCorner (Lille, France)-Henry T. Hettger.

Realized $576
