Lot 418

1794 C-6a R5+ G4. Small Edge Letters. Glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The two-tone appearance accents the devices and adds to the excellent eye appeal. Essentially just well worn with smooth surfaces. The only notable mark is a light, curved mark hidden in the hair right of the bottom of the cap. The strike is a bit uneven leaving the lower right edge of the reverse weak while the upper left part of the reverse is relatively strong. The date is complete and clear but LIBERTY is quite weak. The Small Edge Letters are complete and easily readable. Struck with the reverse die rotated 15 degrees clockwise relative to the normal head-to-foot orientation. A decent lower grade example of this rare die combination (the Large Edge Letters version is unique). Weight 101.7 grains. Estimate Value $1,750 - UP
