Lot 248

1794 S-52 R6- AG3. Slightly sharper but fine roughness covers the fields and protected areas on both sides. There are microscopic specks of verdigris in some of the roughness on the left side of the obverse (takes a glass to see it) and the only contact mark is a tiny, insignificant rim bruise at CA in AMERICA. EDS. The date and LIBERTY are complete and easily readable but not strong, and most of the legend outside the wreath is worn away. Graded G5 net AG3 in the Noyes census, his photo #38576. An acceptable example of this very rare die variety. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
Ex Tom Reynolds-Denis W. Loring 3/22/1992-Dr. Bruce M. Reinoehl-Dan Trollan-Shawn Yancey 8/23/2014-Dr. George Wilkins (includes the Reinoehl and Trollan collection envelopes).
