1794 S-70 R2 Head of 1795 PCGS graded AU50. Frosty reddish steel brown and chocolate with light olive toning on the devices. Just a few minor contact marks including two fine scratches near the dentils in the field before the face, a couple nicks on the cap, and a small rim bruise at the bust tip. The obverse of the planchet is smooth and satiny but the reverse has numerous microscopic striations or fine laminations in the planchet, mostly on the left side (as struck). These striations are nearly invisible to the unaided eye. No corrosion or verdigris. M-LDS, Breen state III, with die clashmarks on both sides. Graded EF40 net VF35 by Noyes, his photo #20018. Our grade is net VF35. The attribution and Trollan provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 4 finer for the variety, 2 in 58, 2 in 62. Estimate Value $3,000 - UP
