Lot 1116

1855. PCGS graded Proof 64. Lovely toning on both sides. Only 60 struck, with 40 to 60 examples estimated to have survived by PCGS Pop Report. This is one of the nicer examples, with boldly reflective fields, minimal signs of handling, and a handsome pale golden rose hue spanning both sides. The strike is bold throughout, as expected for a proof coin, and the high quality of the preservation really sets this coin apart. This is a low mintage date for both proofs and business strikes, keeping demand high when a nice coin like this appears on the market. Pop 9; 8 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 6998) Estimate Value $15,000 - UP
