Lot 1114

1844. NGC graded MS-63. Nice even lilac and antique gray toning on both sides. This is a scarce date, with a low mintage and strong collector demand. All (except the few proofs) show four shield stripes caused by a minor doubled die, in addition the top of the 8 is seen in Liberty's lower drapery folds. Heavy die file marks are seen above and below the left wing of the eagle, these features are always present on all circulation strike 1844 silver dollars. An impressive example for the date collector. Only 20,000 struck. Pop 2; 1 finer in 64. Estimate Value $6,500 - 7,000
