Lot 1100

1797. 9 stars left, 7 right, large letters. B-1, BB-73, Rarity 3. PCGS graded AU-58. CAC. Mint luster visible in the protected areas of the design. The strike is average for this issue, but the amazing quality will long endure. Rarely are the early Bust Dollars found this well preserved with minimal signs of circulation. The surfaces are pleasing, with no adustment marks present or other detractions. The toning is a mix of mottled gold and tawny gray. Most of the breast feathers are present on the eagle, a feature few coins of the small eagle design can offer. Later die state with sharp evidence of die clashing and minor cracks as often seen on this die pairing. Only 7,776 struck. Pop 7; 3 finer, 1 in 61, 1 in 62, 1 in 63. (PCGS # 6863) Estimate Value $40,000 - UP
