Scarce Antique Russian Samovar by Vasily Gudkov, Silver Plate on Brass. A samovar (literally "self-boiler") is a metal container traditionally used to heat and boil water in and around Russia and the Middle East. Since the heated water is typically used to make tea, many samovars have a ring-shaped attachment around the chimney to hold and heat a teapot filled with tea concentrate. Offered is a beautiful antique gourd-shaped Russian samovar by maker Vasily Gudkov. Very attractive patina with just hints of the brass showing through in a few places. Four marks at neck. A very appealing antique piece. Estimate Value $700 - UP
Longtime Jewish Family Heirloom.
