Stunning Qing Dynasty Silk Embroidery of Two 5-Clawed Imperial Dragons. Wonderful silk 19th century (Qing Dynasty) embroidery boasting a five clawed dragon in the clouds over undulating seas. Excellent colors and superb craftsmanship with added appeal of two, five-clawed dragon on opposing sides, the emperor's sacred symbols of imperial power and dignity. The panels are mirror images of each other and may have been lifted from a garment especially given the elements of water on both ends.
Embroidery has a fabric border which dramatically accents the silkwork and presently is configured to be hung horizontally but by changing the wire on verso, can hang vertically with equally commanding appeal. 16 x 47" (or vertically, 47 x 16") and nicely framed in brushed gilt wood framed to 18 x 50" (vertically 50 x 18"). In excellent condition. Estimate Value $800 - UP
